Newt Gingrich has turned out to be the Looney Tunes character* that National Review portrayed him as in 2011. The supposedly strong Constitutionalist Newt Gingrich:
Gingrich’s position is, literally, that the rules should not apply to Trump because he’s rich. pic.twitter.com/D3mA6lsv0u— Jamison Foser (@jamisonfoser) December 20, 2016
Apparently moral and financial rules against political corruption are only for middle class and poor occupants of the White House. If you're rich enough, you can take as much money as you like.
Even worse, because a mere ripping off of money isn't as bad as actually corrupting the system, the pardoning power is to allow Executive Branch officials to do unlawful things with impunity. Hmm. That will be a fun idea when the Democrats get back in power.
Newt is the very definition of how "brilliance" is often the opposite of wisdom and integrity.

*Actually Marvin the Martian is undoubtedly superior to Newt.

Well, it certainly didn't seem to matter to the Clintons, who were "dead broke" when they left the White House (and took many of the furnishings with them).
And Obama has pardoned more criminals than the last four pResidents combined.
No apologies for Newt or Trump, but it seems that they're simply walking through the door that the Democratics left open.
Yep, Max, lots of corruption. I don't like it any better when it's Republicans dreaming of doing it. It's jaw dropping to me that Gingrich would suggest it's a good policy to allow the President to skirt the laws of the land. He's not a Constitutionalist, not even someone who cares to abide by normal laws of the land.
I had to post this because I have lauded his principles in past posts and defended him. He has no principles. You look for good from him and all you find is corruption.
Like a trampled spring and a polluted well Is a righteous man who gives way before the wicked.
Proverbs 25:26
The question now is do I go back and put a warning on every post that has said something good about him.

I'm with you there. Stink is stink, and to me it doesn't matter much who's doing the farting.
I recall some of your past posts about Newt, but it is only recently that I've chosen to engage; as when explaining my views on matters such as why Carson was not viable, and so on.
The give-and-take we can have on such matters is productive. For me, anyway....
Beneficial to me, Max. I always want to be learning and turning more and more to what is good and true. When I'm wrong I want to admit it and change. I've always thought if truth and principles weren't higher than me and I wasn't willing to change to conform to them, they weren't worth having. Your comments and posts have been very helpful to me. Whether we agree (which we mostly do) or not, you always help me to think. Thank you!
As do you. TD. I find our give-and-take most enlightening and very helpful in identifying weaknesses in my own perspective. We may not always agree - and it would be terrible if we did - but I think our respective views work well in tandem.
By the way, best wishes for a happy Christmas to you and yours!
Merry Christmas to you too, Max! God bless you and your family.
