Republicans Now the Party of Government "Guiding" Business

Imagine me agreeing with liberals (36%) and Democrats (33%) more than conservatives (24%) and Republicans (23%) that the free market doesn't hurt us. Or that the President shouldn't be giving benefits to individual private companies (Dems 54%, Republicans 22%).

Where are we headed? Towards more government control, my friends. Look for lots more government spending and lots more government rules. And maybe an odd tweet or two directed against you if you dare to publicly question any of it.

No kidding, TD. Although I don't know about the government spending part, and I don't see how anyone can enact more rules than the Obama administration has, I still don't see a happy ending here.

Well, Rush Limbaugh, among others, has no negative words for a trillion dollar fixer upper program. Like with Obama's stimulus we're gonna get it all back by growing the economy. The Kennedy/Reagan way is to cut taxes on businesses so they grow as the business owner directs. The Obama/Trump way is to give them what government thinks is good for them. And most conservatives are either cheering or sitting on their hands because it's our guy spending money to wildly increase the deficit. And remember Trump has promised lots of new military spending too. Oh, yes, spending is gonna go way up.

As for rules, except for a few high profile targets, has Trump said he will get rid of rules wholesale? All he has to do is add to the basic set already there all the rules needed to implement his trade policies, business bribes/threats, and, of course, the trillion dollar fixer up spending is gonna takes lots of rules and government workers to oversee the projects. Just think: they might do as well as the Feds have done on overseeing Obamacare dollars spent in Oregon.

I don't see a silver lining here.

Ah, well...I don't follow Limbaugh nor Eric Ericson's "redstate". Both of them are just too stupid for me to bother with.

I'm more a Kennedy/Reagan sort when it comes to fiscal policy.

Where are we going - and why am I in this handbasket?

Heh. Yep, a lot of us are in that handbasket.
